Day 37: Tue 21 Mar 23 - Wallaroo

 Tue 21 Mar 23 - Wallaroo

16 Deg overnight reaching 31 Deg at 1600 - and no wind. A few passing thunderstorms throughout the night and a little rain. We woke to a glorious morning, and I went out for a walk along the beach onto the harbour break wall. After breakfast, we drove out to Moonta, one of the three towns in the region known as the Copper Coast or Little Cornwall for their shared copper mining history. Moonta is a wonderful town with many historic buildings and a great collection of mining memorabilia. We spent more than 4 hours driving around and wandering through many different parts of the old Moonta Mines and walking through town where you get a good insight into the daily lives of the Cornish Miners. Lunch was a very tasty Cornish Pasty in the main street - one of the best I've ever eaten. We drove past the Moonta 72 Hour RV Stop for a look as well, as we originally had intended to stay there before opting for Wallaroo. After checking it out, I would happily stay there if passing through the area again. It was spacious, close to town and well connected with bike paths. From Moonta we drove the short distance to Moonta Bay, and enjoyed a very good coffee in the cafe overlooking the Jetty and beach, before returning to the Caravan Park near Wallaroo. Noel had a rest, then sorted out the washing, while I headed out on the bike to make the most of the great weather, riding back into Wallaroo and along the rail trail to Kadina and back. It was a fabulous ride and I managed to squeeze in a few more attractions in Wallaroo and Kadina. We were treated to a stunning sunset tonight ending another great day.  Tomorrow, we're on the move again heading north out of the Yorke Peninsula and start making our way down the Eyre Peninsula, with a plan to stop at Whyalla - but we're not sure where or for how long at this stage. We'll work it out tomorrow.
