Fri 31 Mar 23 - Port Lincoln to Elliston (Towed 172 km)
13 to 22 Deg. We woke to a beautiful still morning, then scattered showers rolled in from 0830, then cleared with a brisk SW Wind building in the afternoon. We drove away from Port Lincoln in light rain, travelling along a very quiet Flinders Highway to Elliston. We both thoroughly enjoyed Port Lincoln and would gladly return, and happily stay at the same caravan park again. After 110km we stopped for coffee along the highway less than a couple of km inland from the Great Australian Bight coastline. One of the couple (Dale and Caroline) we were parked next to us at Port Lincoln have joined us at Elliston for three nights and will continue to Streaky Bay with us for another three nights - we're looking forward to their company. The other couple parked next to us in Port Lincoln (Darryl and Debbie) had to return home to Maitland this morning due to other commitments. It was a very pleasant and scenic drive today, and we arrived and checked in before midday at the Elliston Caravan Park, a couple of km the other side of town. Although the cost of $37 per night was a little high, it is a very laid back park (find a spot and set up where you like), with plenty of open space and grassy sites to choose from. After a quick look around this very quiet town and and scenic coastline with great walking/riding trails, we're looking forward to the next two days here. While setting up the TV, Noel snapped the pin from the coaxial cable for the TV aerial. I tracked down the number for a local electrician who works from home, and he promptly drove into town to meet me and made a new cable out of the back of his ute. In no time, he handed over a new cable, and I handed over $60, and I was on my way back to the van. Unfortunately we still couldn't get any TV reception, so I ended up having to borrow a coaxial cable to connect to a park aerial to watch the football tonight. After setting up, and sorting out our entertainment issues, we went for a walk to the jetty across the road, then I climbed on the bike for a very pleasant ride to the other side of town and back along the scenic headland surrounding Elliston. The wind was a getting a little blustery, but it didn't take away from the magnificent scenery, which was on par with some of the scenery we saw yesterday. Sitting down watching the game between Collingwood (Noeleene) and Richmond (Me) tonight, I'm wishing I hadn't put so much effort into fixing the aerial issues.
