Day 43: Mon 27 Mar 23 - Tumby Bay to Port Lincoln

Mon 27 Mar 23 - Tumby Bay to Port Lincoln (Towed 45 km)

17 Deg overnight, reaching 23 Deg through the day. It was overcast all day with some light drizzle then clearing again. Amazingly, except for about 30 minutes in the evening, there was no wind all day. With only a short distance to travel, we packed and drove away from Tumby Bay at 0930, arriving too early to check in, so we parked at a roadside stop just past the caravan park on the way into Port Lincoln for our morning brew. We returned and checked into the Port Lincoln Caravan Park North Shields at 1100 and set up on a fantastic site overlooking Boston Bay. The site is large enough for two caravans with amazing views across the bay. We're so close, I could caste a fishing line into the water from the van - hoping the wind holds off while we are here though. After setting up, we drove into Port Lincoln for lunch at a cafe', followed by a walk along the foreshore, before we went separate ways with Noel doing some grocery shopping, while I drove out to the Axel Stenross Maritime Museum. Unfortunately it's closed on Mondays so I'll come back again tomorrow when they are open. My Plan B was a drive up to the Winter Hill Lookout for amazing views over the Port Lincoln and the surrounding region, then I returned to town via a carwash to give the car a quick clean following the muddy drive to Koppio yesterday. Afterwards, I collected Noel and the groceries, and we returned to the van, then we walked to the North Shields Jetty to try my luck at catching some squid for dinner. Thankfully, before we left Port Lincoln, I purchased some seafood for dinner (for me), because we left the jetty empty handed. We did see others catching large whiting, garfish and squid. My dinner tonight was a dozen very fresh Coffin Bay oysters, some hot smoked salmon and squid, and lime and ginger marinated mussels with salad - very tasty. The weather forecast for the rest of the week is looking good, and as we're very happy with the caravan park and our site, we're already thinking that we may extend our stay by one night.

View overlooking Boston Bay from our home today at Port Lincoln Caravan Park in North Shields - stunning.

North Shields Jetty, 500m walk from the van. Tried unsuccessfully to catch some squid, but it was relaxing until it started raining.
