Day 14: Sun 26 Feb 23 - Robe

 Sun 26 Feb - Robe

14 to 20 Deg and light rain from 0300 until 0800. With very little wind I went out on my bike for a ride, but only made it to the front entrance before it started raining again - I kept going regardless. The weather so far in South Australia has been very unpredictable, mostly windy and very cool at times with a few hot spells thrown in the mix. Despite the drizzle and increasing wind this morning, I enjoyed my ride around and further out of town. I returned to the van, cleaned up and as the skies cleared we headed back into town for brunch in warm sunshine at a nice little cafe in the main street. Walking through the main street is very interesting with so many historical buildings still in such good condition. On my bike ride, I noticed in the outer parts of town, some very large and extravagant houses with some beautiful high end cars parked in driveways. Robe is lovely town with a lot of history and magnificent coastline, and while we've enjoyed the stay (apart from the bad tasting water - unsure if its a town or caravan park issue but it tastes and smells terrible), we're unsure if we would return. It was a bit of a quiet but relaxing day today, but we didn't mind. Noeleene caught up on some washing while I cleaned the bikes and packed up in the afternoon for an early departure tomorrow morning. By mid-morning we were still unsure what our destination would be tomorrow, originally aiming for Meningie on the shores of Lake Albert at the northern end of the Coorong near the mouth of the Murray River. It's only 185km from Robe, so we decided to drive the extra distance of 120km (305km total) to our next planned stop at Strathalbyn for a three night stay instead of the two planned. Compared to the distances we have been driving so far this trip, tomorrow will be a big day with a few planned stops. By evening the drizzle had returned and the temperature dropped again, a great opportunity to knock over the blog early.
